Knowing
that you must leave
your horse is a
very painful experience.
For whatever reason
- money, illness,
lack of time, location
- when you realize
that you and your
best friend need
to separate, it’s
up to you to make a
decision about his
future. There are a
number of options available,
depending on his skill,
physical health and
age. Let’s
discuss your choices.

a call. Email We
want to help.
Volunteers
Interested
in becoming a Volunteer?
We want you to be involved!
We need volunteers
to help with many aspects
of our organization.
We need everyone from
volunteers for marketing,
fundraising, ranch
help and office work.
Everything needed to
keep a ranch running.
We need volunteers
that just want to groom
horses and we need
folks to help us with
the administrative
details and the building,
maintenance and upkeep
of a ranch. An hour
a week, a hundred hours,
give whatever you can
give. Our location
is in St. Cloud, Florida,
just south of Orlando
and about 40 miles
East of Disney World
and 45 miles east of
Melbourne. We have
a small ranch at the
moment, but we still
care for many fosters
horses and other equine
in need. Our center
not only gives equine
the love and attention
they deserve, but have
programs for horses
owners and enthusiasts
to educate them on
the needs of these
large steeds. We have
foster homes all over
the Southeast US and
work hand in hand with
Habitat for Horses
in doing this.
Our
volunteer program is
designed to bring people
that have a deep love
and respect for horses
together with horses
that need love and
respect. Through a
series on hands-on
experiences, including
diet, grooming, handling,
medical and dental
care, round pen training
and riding, our hope
is that volunteers
will acquire the knowledge
to interact with horses
in a positive manner.
By learning and demonstrating
levels of responsibility
and knowledge, our
volunteers will advance
to the point of teaching
others.
You’ll
find that we are very
specific about horse
care. During the hot,
muggy days of summer
and on what can be
miserable cold days
of winter, (yes, even
in Florida) the horses
still need to be fed,
the water buckets filled,
the stalsl and paddocks
cleaned and medications
given. If you say you’ll
be here, we’re
counting on you. On
the other hand, if
you just want to groom
you are more than welcome
to volunteer to do
that. We have a number
of people that want
to use mucking or grooming
time, as their get
away time from every
day hustle & bustle.
Once we know that you
can handle yourself
safely around horses,
we’ll
leave you alone.
Future
Ranch work available
We
will have ranch work
available once we get
our property completed
with everything for
taking care of horses.
We will need all types
of work done, from
painting, fencing,
plumbing, feeding,
mucking stalls, transporting
of equine and tons
of other tasks. We
plan on having an early
evening BBQ weekly
for the volunteers
when their work day
is done. This is in
appreciation for all
their work. You can
volunteer the entire
day or just in the
morning or evening.
Hours will depend on
time of year, weather
conditions and work
that will be needed
to be done.
If
you’re
interested in becoming
a volunteer, please
contact us at Volunteer@Secondhoperanch.org and
we will forward
you an application.
Since there are
kids and animals
involved on a daily
basis in our organization,
background checks
will be done on
everyone volunteering
for our program.
Age
Limit
Due
to the potential danger
of our daily functions,
children under the
age of 16 cannot volunteer,
and children/young
adults between the
ages of 12 and 17 must
be accompanied by an
adult unless they are
in our Pixie
Pony Club Program. Pixies
Pony Club will start
soon, so be on the
lookout!
FUNDRAISING:
Our
organization thrives
because of its dedicated
members and volunteers.
The marketing and fundraising
group wants to promote
this great organization
and find ways to help
horse lovers’ help
the horses. We welcome
any offers for fundraiser's,
distribution of our
materials or recommendations
such as ideas to help
